Position Description:
If you are looking to spend your summer developing your leadership skills, being part of a dynamic team and welcoming incoming families, consider being a Family Orientation Leader through New Student Services. As a Family Orientation Leader, you will have the opportunity to help families as they navigate through Family Orientation.

Duties and Functions:

  • Serve as point of contact for incoming families during orientation sessions  
  • Provide excellent customer service to incoming families, their students, and the University community  
  • Assist with prep work prior to each session in order to prepare for our families  
  • Assist with the set up and clean-up of certain spaces throughout the duration of Family Orientation 
  • Assist families with navigating campus and buildings 
  • Lead campus tours   
  • Assist with implementation of all orientation activities for our families

Required Skills & Qualifications: 

  • The ability to communicate effectively with families, university community, colleagues, & supervisors  
  • A desire to work and interact with family members  
  • The ability to receive critical performance feedback and work with peer leaders & supervisors to improve  
  • Experience providing excellent customer service   
  • The desire to serve as an ambassador for The University of Texas at Austin  
  • The ability to be reliable, flexible, responsible, confident and willing to learn about the UT community

FOLs will:  

  • Attend and fully participate in training (included in dates below) 
  • Work from May 13 – July 20, 2024
  • Be prepared for an early morning start time on the day of Orientation (6am) 
  • Perform assigned duties with enthusiasm and display a willingness to help  

Compensation: 

FOLs will receive an hourly rate of $12.00.
