UT Austin First-Gen Resources
First-Abroad Scholarship
The First Abroad Scholarship supports first-generation students planning for a study abroad experience. It is a one-time scholarship of $3,000 used to fund participation in a UT-approved study abroad program. We will award 25 students annually.
Healthyhorns First-Gen SHARE Community
Discover your weekly home-away-from-home in our cozy peer-led space where first-generation and transfer students gather to share, support, and thrive! Whether you're navigating uncharted academic territory, worrying about being “behind” your peers, feeling lost (or found!) in a new city or campus culture, feeling homesick, or grappling with the internal and external pressures of being first-gen, you’re not alone! Come relax, vent your frustrations, and find mutual solidarity, friendship, and encouragement with people who get it.

McNair Scholars
McNair Scholars seeks to increase the number of undergraduate students earning doctoral degrees who are low-income and first-generation.

Established in 2017 as the Center for First-generation Student Success, an initiative of NASPA and The Suder Foundation, the organization has grown and become a collaborative effort across the entire higher education system, working directly with hundreds of institutions that serve millions of first-generation students.

I'm First!
I’m First! was created by nonprofit Center for Student Opportunity in 2013 to provide students who lack a family history of higher education with inspiration, information, and support on the road to and through college and is now an initiative of Strive for College—a national nonprofit that also runs a national online mentoring program for college-bound students.
