Longhorn TIES Presentations and Training

Longhorn TIES is proud to host and deliver autism and neurodiversity presentations and trainings to The University of Texas at Austin community (including faculty and staff, undergraduate and graduate classes, student organizations, and more) as well as community agencies. Longhorn TIES offers standardized trainings or can customize a training for the needs of your team. All Longhorn TIES trainings and workshops are voluntary, and no UT students, faculty, or staff may be mandated to attend any Longhorn TIES training.  

Longhorn TIES requests that all presentation requests include an estimated audience of at least 10 attendees. If you are requesting a customized training, please submit a workshop request at least four weeks in advance of the desired training date. Longhorn TIES will respond to all workshop requests within 3-5 business days.

Longhorn TIES Neurodiversity Support Informational Presentation 

  • This informational presentation introduces attendees to Longhorn TIES Neurodiversity Support at The University of Texas at Austin, including available student support services, social programs and opportunities, and more.  

Neurodiversity "ND" Training (customized for the needs of your team).  

  • Longhorn TIES can provide a Neurodiversity "ND" 101 training customized for the needs of your team. If you are requesting a customized training, please submit a workshop request at least four weeks in advance of the desired training date. Example of past customized trainings include: 

  • Supporting Autism and Neurodiversity in the Classroom 

  • Supporting Autism and Neurodiversity in the Workplace 

  • Neurodiversity and Social Work Practice 

  • Neurodiversity and University Writing Services 

  • …and more!  

Neurodiversity-Affirming: Supporting the Neurodivergent Community at UT Austin 

  • This interactive training introduces attendees to the concept of neurodiversity, provides action tips to be affirming in practice, and reviews campus and community resources related to support neurodivergent Longhorns. Participants who attend this training will be added to a Continuing Education Canvas page and receive a “Neurodiversity Affirming” placard recognizing their completion of the training and an ongoing commitment to supporting the neurodivergent community at UT Austin. Longhorn TIES offers this as an open training at least once per semester. Register via UTLearn (see below for more information).

Neurodiversity Affirming Training

Participants who attend this training will be added to a Neurodiversity Affirming Continuing Education Canvas page. Participants will also receive a “Neurodivergent Affirming” placard recognizing their completion of the training and an ongoing commitment to supporting the neurodivergent community at The University of Texas at Austin.

Attend an Open Workshop
Each semester, Longhorn TIES aims to offer at least one open Neurodiversity Affirming Training to students, staff, faculty, and administrators at The University of Texas at Austin via the UTLearn platform. To learn more about the upcoming training/workshop schedule and register, log into UTLearn using your EID and enter “Longhorn TIES” in the search bar. Can’t make the open workshop? Longhorn TIES can deliver this training in-person or via Zoom to groups of at least 10 attendees. In order to request delivery for your group, please fill out the Presentation Request Form.
