The RGV Experience
RGV Familia is an initiative for all UT students from the Rio Grande Valley (RGV), also known as “the Valley.” Our community is unique; it centers on strong family relations. The vibrant, fast-growing Rio Grande Valley is different in many ways than the large metro of Austin.
Geographically Speaking
A largely agricultural area, it is comprised of four counties on the Texas-Mexico border including Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr and Willacy. It is over 300 miles from Austin.
Partnering with UT Students
RGV Familia works closely with the RGV Familia Student Organization to ensure students from the Valley find a sense of community on the Forty Acres. Learn more about the student organization on HornsLink.
