Program Description
Bevo Buddy! matches UT student leaders with incoming first-year and transfer students. As a Bevo Buddy Leader, you will be matched to approximately 5-10 new students (Bevo Buddies) to conduct regular check-ins throughout the academic year. Bevo Buddy Leaders are responsible for sharing campus resources, offering frequent support and advice, and serving as a guide to the Forty Acres. Bevo Buddy Leaders are also encouraged to attend engaging events on and off campus with their Buddies.

Requirements:

  • Conduct regular check-ins (text/email) with incoming students on a bi-weekly basis to share resources and provide support
  • Consistently log interactions with new students to track activity and engagement
  • Communicate with professional staff about the needs and concerns of Buddies
  • Attend monthly small group meetings with fellow Bevo Buddy Leaders
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and trainings
  • Meet with Buddies individually in-person once per semester
  • Attend and contribute to Bevo Buddy! exclusive events
  • Promote campus events and resources to new students
  • Represent the UT community by exhibiting exceptional academic, well-being, leadership, and community model

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bevo Buddy Leaders are positive, approachable and resourceful, with a passion for supporting new students
  • Demonstrate leadership skills through previous positions or experiences
  • Knowledgeable of on and off campus resources
  • Completed at least two semesters at The University of Texas at Austin
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • The desire to serve as an ambassador for The University of Texas at Austin
