- If you are paying with financial aid, learn more about the process with Texas One Stop.
Submit your final transcripts
You should submit your final, official high school transcripts as soon as possible after graduation. All transcripts must be in before classes begin, but are not required to register for classes during orientation.
If you attended a Texas public school, ask your school counselor to submit your final transcript electronically through Texas Records Exchange (TREx) which is a system managed by the Texas Education Agency and available to all public high schools in Texas. Another option is to have your school counselor submit your transcript electronically through Parchment (a partner of Naviance to some schools). Otherwise, an original, official document must be mailed to the Office of Admissions:
The University of Texas at Austin
Office of Admissions
P.O. Box 8058
Austin, TX 78713-8058
Check your Registration Information Sheet (RIS)
Check your RIS to make sure you don’t have any holds that will prevent you from being able to register for classes during the add/drop period.
Complete AlcoholEdu and Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates Modules.
AlcoholEdu and the Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates modules are mandatory online educational programs that all incoming students (including transfer students) must complete. The program's goals are to ensure that UT Austin students have information to make well-informed decisions about substance use and are empowered to prevent sexual assault and interpersonal violence.
You will receive an email with a link in August to the program website, where you will log in with your UT EID and password to complete the program, which has two parts. If you do not complete both Parts 1 and 2 by the deadlines, you will not be able to see your grades online for that semester. For more information, visit the Healthyhorns website.
Get ready for Mooov-In or secure off-campus housing
Review the Mooov-In website from University Housing and Dining for complete information about Mooov-In for the fall, and read through the Residence Hall Safety Page and Manual.
For students who plan to live off campus, the Off-Campus Living Resources website has helpful information.
Obtain a parking permit (if applicable)
Parking and Transportation Services provides information on the different kinds of permits available and how you can purchase one.
Familiarize yourself with public transportation
There are many university buses that travel to and from campus, as well as city buses that travel all over the city. UT students, faculty and staff may ride CapMetro mainline buses for free by swiping a valid UT photo ID upon entering the bus.
Find your fit with HornsLink
UT Austin has over 1000 different student organizations! Login to your HornsLink account with your UT EID to discover which organization is right for you, plus find out about events happening on campus.
Familiarize yourself with health services
- University Health Services provides general medicine and urgent care clinics (schedule appointments), women's health, immunizations, physical therapy, nutrition services, lab and radiology services and more.
- The Counseling and Mental Health Center provides counseling, psychiatric, consultation and prevention services and operates a 24/7 Crisis Line.
- If you have health insurance or a prescription card, make sure you have them with you on campus! If you don’t have health insurance, learn more about the Student Health Insurance Plan, an affordable health, dental, and vision plan approved by the UT System.
- The Center for Students in Recovery provides a supportive community where students in recovery and in hope of recovery can achieve academic success while enjoying a genuine college experience free from alcohol and other drugs.
Be proactive about campus safety
- Sign up for Campus Text Alerts to receive text messages during emergency situations that may effect the university.
- Complete the emergency contact form online.
- Download the LiveSafe App. UTPD uses this free mobile app to give the UT community and guests immediate access to police dispatch. UTPD hopes the app will encourage users to engage and share important, potentially life-saving information, to prevent crime and enable better incident response.
- Mark your valuables with your driver’s license number and register your bike and other property with UTPD.
- Review the Campus Safety page for more information.
