Once registration opens, visit MyStatus (https://bealonghorn.admissions.utexas.edu/register/nss) to register for Orientation.
After you select your orientation session and complete the registration form, your seat for orientation will be reserved. YOUR ORIENTATION REGISTRATION IS NOT COMPLETE UNTIL PAYMENT IS RECEIVED. You will be automatically dropped from your session if payment is not received by 11:59 PM CT the day after you complete the registration form. Go to What I Owe to pay via credit card or eCheck. Please note, it may take up to 4 hours for your orientation fee bill to post on What I Owe. Your registration will be confirmed once you have paid via What I Owe.
You must be an admitted student and have paid your enrollment deposit in order to register for orientation. Check MyStatus to verify if you have paid your deposit.
Please note, it takes 2 business days from the day you paid your deposit for the Orientation Registration System to update. You will be able to register after the Orientation Registration System updates. If your enrollment deposit was waived, you must still accept your offer of admission via MyStatus.
Registration closes two Thursdays before the start of each session. You can view the registration closing dates here. (For Summer Term Orientation, registration closes six calendar days prior to the session.) Register early as space is limited and sessions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Sessions do not have waitlists.
Note that if your family is participating in Family Orientation, it is a separate process and program. You and your family must BOTH register to participate in an orientation session: students register via the New Student Services registration system, and families register on their own system.
If you are admitted to the fall term and are unable to participate in any of the June/July sessions, there is an August orientation session. Registration for August orientation opens in July, and students who did not participate in a June or July session will be sent an email with August orientation registration information.
All orientation sessions will continue to provide robust programming for incoming students, including August orientation. If all June/July orientation sessions are full for your college, you will automatically see the option to register for August Orientation within the registration portal. Please note: All students may not see the option to register for August Orientation simultaneously as it is dependent on their specific college reaching capacity. Registration for August Orientation will open for all students by late-July.
After registering, you can check your registration status at any time on the registration home page.
Canceling Your Registration
If you need to cancel your registration, you must do so by two Thursdays before the session you are registered for. See the cancellation deadlines here. (For Summer Term Orientation, you must cancel six days before your session.) Visit your registration home page to cancel your registration.
Please note that if you cancel your orientation session, a $25 non-refundable charge will be
assessed, which will be deducted from your refund amount if you have already paid for your
session. You will receive a refund check in the mail within two to four weeks of cancellation. If you do not cancel within the required time period, you will not receive a refund.
Registration for August Orientation cannot be canceled. If you register for a June/July session and fail to participate, you will need to go back into the system and register for August Orientation. Your full payment for the June/July session will transfer to August Orientation but will not be refunded. Students participating in Spring, Summer School or August Orientation are not housed on campus.
To cancel your session:
- Visit your registration home page.
- Select "Register for Orientation"
- Under "Review Your Session Details", select "Cancel Your Registration"
- Select "Cancel Registration"
- At the bottom of the page, click "Cancel Registration."
- You will be asked if you're sure you want to cancel. Click "OK" to confirm your cancellation.
- Return to the registration home page to view
Switching Orientation Sessions
Switching orientation sessions is not recommended. Orientation space is limited, so it is important to try to attend the session you sign up to participate in. If you need to change your session, you must do so before the registration close date. View the registration closing dates here:
Visit the online registration page and use the following instructions to switch sessions. You will first need to cancel your current reservation before you can register for a new session. You will only be able to switch to a session that has space remaining. Please note if you cancel your registration assuming you can switch to a different session, that switch may not be possible and you could end up losing your spot. You must reregister on the same day or cancellation fees may apply.
Before cancelling your current reservation with the intent of registering for a different session,
please email email@example.com to confirm session availability.
IMPORTANT: You should not attempt to coordinate with another student to switch orientation sessions, even if you are both in the same college. There are several factors that determine how many spaces are available in each session and who can fill those spaces. If you cancel your registration assuming you can switch to a different session, that switch may not be possible and you could end up losing your spot.
